Links outside the information center
The information center provides you with links to Web sites outside the information
center and marks such instances with the graphic
.
Most of these Web sites contain English-only information.
How do I order hardcopy manuals?
To order hardcopy manuals from IBM(R), see Ordering publications. The Online Library is no longer being updated.
If you prefer hardcopy information, you can always print an information center topic or topic collection. If you do not know how to do this, see the Printing category in the Frequently asked questions.
How do I bookmark?
To bookmark a Web page that uses frames, do the following:
Note: If you are using Internet Explorer, retitle the bookmarked page to reflect the content. Otherwise, you will replace any previous information center bookmarks.
When you use your new bookmark, your browser goes directly to the frame that you selected without going through the other frames that were used in the original window.
What browsers are supported?
The information center supports Netscape Navigator 6.2 and Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 and later. Optimum browser levels are Netscape Navigator 7.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and later. If you use a different or earlier version of a browser, your pages might format differently and some functions might not work correctly.
If you want to update your browser, just click the browser you are using and download the updated version.
Java(TM), JavaScript(TM), cookies, and frames must be enabled in your browser.
If you are using a version of the Java Plug-in to run Java in your browser, the information center supports versions 1.4.1 and later. If you are using a different or earlier version of the Java Plug-in, certain functions of the information center (such as the navigation bar or the toolbar) might not work correctly. See the information center FAQ for details on downloading an updated version of the Java Plug-in.
How do I navigate the information center?
The information center uses frames to help you navigate through the content. The left frame (navigation bar) acts as a table of contents. The right frame shows you the content information. This is the frame you will most likely want to bookmark or print. The top frame is the information center masthead. You can use it to perform different functions within the information center. You might have found this help information by clicking Help in the masthead frame.
Using the navigation bar
The navigation bar lists all the categories and topics available in the information center. Each major topic can have multiple subtopics. Items that include subtopics have triangles next to the topic name. A right-pointing triangle means that the topic is collapsed and the subtopics are not visible. A downward-pointing triangle means that the topic is expanded and the subtopics are listed below the item (subtopics are indented). There may be several levels of subtopics. Topics with a page icon next to the topic name do not include subtopics.
Viewing a topic: Click the topic name. The information appears in the right frame.
Expanding or collapsing a topic: Click a topic name to expand the topic. You will see the next lower level of topics. Click again to collapse the topic.
Using the shortcut or pop-up menu: Right-click a topic to see a menu of additional navigation options. This menu includes the following commands.
Function description Hot keys What it does Open Ctrl + E Select this to expand all topics for the selected section or for the section your mouse is over. You will see all subtopic levels below the selected item. Close Ctrl + C Select this to collapse all topics for the selected section or for the section your mouse is over. Feedback Ctrl + F Select this to send IBM feedback. For more information, see How to give IBM feedback. Preferences Ctrl + P Select this to set navigation bar preferences. Help Ctrl + H Select this to view this help topic.
Using hot keys: The pop-up menu shows a keyboard combination for each function. By using hot keys, you can quickly do that function without using the pop-up menu. For example, to expand a topic in the list, first select the topic by using the Up and Down arrow keys. Then press and hold the Ctrl key while pressing the E key (Ctrl+E).
Using the navigation trail
The navigation trail refers to the list of links that appear at the top of each topic. For example, if you view the Cabling your server topic, the navigation trail at the top of the page displays:
Installing hardware > Cabling your server
This indicates that the current page, "Cabling your server," is a topic in the "Installing hardware" topic collection.
How do I print the information?
Because you might want to read and work with hardcopy information, the information center includes PDF (Portable Document Format) files of topic collections that you can view and print. You can print PDF files of most topic collections.
To print a topic collection, click the Printable PDF link on the page or in the navigation bar. Note that the quality of printed graphics in the PDF files might not be as good as the quality that you see online with your Web browser.
To print an individual page in the information center, follow one of these steps:
Either method allows you to print the individual page without including the information in the left frame.
How do I search the information center?
To search the information center content, type a word or phrase in the Search field at the top of the page. Then click Go.
How do I set preferences?
Use the Customization page to
set basic options for the navigation bar. To access this page, right-click
in the navigation bar and select the Preferences item from
the menu, or press and hold the Ctrl key while pressing the P key (Ctrl+P).
You can also access the page by clicking the Customize interface
